Signagi - the city of love!
The small town on a mountain slope, is located on the terraces connecting twisting abrupt streets. Because of the good location practically at mountain Signagi top it was never captured by enemies thanks to what remained up to now practically in original state. In the city the round-the-clock registry office where also foreigners can married. Along with the general romantic atmosphere, the name "city of love" is also explained by it.
Saint Nino Bodbe Monastery
According to Georgian tradition, St. Nino, having witnessed the conversion of Georgians to the Christian faith, withdrew to the Bodbe gorge, in Kakheti, where she died c. 338-340. At the behest of King Mirian III (r. 284-361), a small monastery was built at the place where Nino was buried. The monastery gained particular prominence in the late Middle Ages. It was particularly favored by the kings of Kakheti who made the place of their coronation.
A tunnel. The unique storage of wines, here many years were stored the best wines of the region of Kakheti. The opposite bank of the Alazani River smoothly runs along the Caucasus gorge. Ilia Lake is a nice small dammed lake, located on the south slope of the range, near Duruji River. Combination of a beautiful nature and fresh air creates relaxing atmosphere.
